Health Care Patient Simulation Center
The Patient Simulation Center encompasses both high- and low-fidelity patient manikins. These fully equipped simulation labs, located at the main campus and the two sites, create learning opportunities for students in:
These simulators can be pre-programmed with scenarios to mimic a wide variety of conditions, allowing students to learn about anesthesia, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, and emergency medicine, to name a few. Our high fidelity simulators include adult, pediatric, obstetric and neonatal manikin models.
In addition, low fidelity simulators allow students to practice their skills to learn to take blood pressure, listen to heart sounds and take pulses. They learn skills in areas such as ostomy, gastronomy, rectal, vagina, tracheostomy and nasogastric tubes. Bedside monitors will allow for electronic health record documentation at the bedside.
The labs connect classroom learning with real-life clinical experience and help students build confidence as they learn to interview and care for patients. The students apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom to ongoing patient scenarios. Learning in a controlled environment allows the student to learn without compromising the safety of an actual patient, as they receive feedback from the Nursing faculty. The sim lab allows the students to develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
Hal S5301 (AI Hal)
Provides incredible realism including speech recognition and arm movements. LCCC is one of two school in the tri-state region to incorporate AI Hal in its clinical training.
Hal
Full state-of-the-art high fidelity manikin with pulse, heart rate, bowel sounds, lung sounds, with scenarios.
Hal Jr.
Pediatric high fidelity with scenarios, lung and heart sounds
Birthing Noelle
High fidelity manikin gives birth to a simulation baby.
Victoria
Includes four holographic mixed reality goggles. This state-of-the-art manikin includes realism and a range of abilities. The goggles allow students to experience virtual childbirth.
Simulation Labs
Main Campus
Three separate classrooms encompass the Sim Lab at the main campus, where students will learn on state-of-the-art high fidelity manikins for both male and female adults and a child. Low fidelity manikins are used to teach a variety of skills.
Tamaqua
Designed to replicate a small clinic, the sim lab in the Scheller Center includes a number of high fidelity manikins, with both adult and pediatric scenarios. The lab in the Morgan Center features low fidelity manikins for skills training.
Allentown
The two classrooms at the Donley Center encompass state-of-the-art high fidelity manikins as well as those that teach a variety of skills.
